Cycling in Norfolk and the Broads National Park

With quiet lanes, stunning scenery, and uninterrupted countryside, the Norfolk Broads is a beautiful place to go for a bike ride. Perfect for all cyclists, no matter age or experience, cycling in Norfolk in a definite must, especially when visiting the Broads National Park where there is a ‘Boris Bike’ style scheme in its early days, as part of the Three Rivers Way project. Locked and electronically controlled in 3 locations at present, the bikes are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and can be booked in 2, 4, 8, or 12 hour sessions. They are available to pick up from Hoveton, Horning, and Ludham Bridge, and bookings can be made online at Our Welcome Aboard 2017 guide also features handy route ideas from The Broads by Bike booklet, created by Peter Howe, a champion of cycling on the Broads, which is available from our Stalham Marina reception for a small cost*. The booklet is a definite must if you want to cycle whilst on the Broads, as it has many more routes and maps to see and plan cycling in Norfolk. There’s also a handy route selector on where you can download routes and explore the broads by bike.

The BroadsbyCycle bike hire scheme features comfortable bikes with large luggage carriers (perfect for picnics!), three gears, puncture-proof tyres and a shaft drive to avoid messy chains! There are also a number of fantastic attractions to visit on routes around the hire stations, including Wroxham Barns, BeWILDerwood, the White Horse Inn in Neatishead, and the Galley delicatessen and coffee shop in Horning, making cycling in Norfolk a must when boating on the Broads!
