For a bite to eat, try the Falgate Inn in Potter Heigham. Moor nearby at the Broads Authority moorings and walk with the dog toward the pub. A great place for walking – there is an easy 3.4-mile circular walk from Potter Heigham Bridge which runs along the bank of the River Thurne turning inland to Hickling Broad and then returning back to Potter Heigham Bridge. For the safety of the wildlife there are sections where dogs are required to be on leads. We should point out that no dogs are permitted at NWT Hickling Broad National Nature reserve.
Also try the Wind Energy Museum in the nearby Repps with Bastwick. Just a 20-minute walk west down the river from Potter Heigham Bridge, most of the museum is outdoors and the dogs will enjoy taking in the countryside and the displays of windmills. This is a great option for those with children, who can learn about the history of windmills and drainage mills and the historic importance of these in the Broads National Park.
