Visiting Great Yarmouth on your Norfolk Broads Boating Holiday

Great Yarmouth is a favourite among many Norfolk Broads boating holidaymakers. It is famous for its bright lights and buzzing atmosphere. There is so much to do in this town and the surrounding areas that you will never be bored!

Great Yarmouth seafront is full of exciting amusements and attractions. There is 15 miles of wonderful golden sandy beaches from Winterton to Hopton. The Pleasure Beach is one of the county’s top attractions with great rides and all the fun of the fair. It is situated on the Seafront. Joyland is also on the seafront and has rides and attractions that suit a younger audience.

Merrivale Model Village is set in an acre of gardens where you can enjoy a whole miniature world. Yesterday’s World on the seafront takes you into the past with life-size street and shop displays from historic Britain. The Time and Tide Museum has award winning displays and interactive activities and the Tolhouse Museum and Gaol is one of the oldest gaols (jails) dating back to the 12th century. You can see original cells and discover the fate of people that were kept there.  The Nelson Museum celebrates Lord Nelson’s life and times and the Elizabethan House Museum has rooms set out in period style where you can try on Tudor costumes and look at Civil War coins and more.

If animals are your thing then the Sealife centre will amuse where you can see all types of sea life from sea stars to sharks. Amazonia World of Reptiles is an indoor centre with every reptile imaginable!

Along the seafront you will also find adventure golf, bowling, quasar and numerous amusement arcades and casinos.

The Hippodrome circus is one of Britain’s last surviving circus buildings and performances can be seen at Easter, Summer, Halloween and Christmas. Britannia Pier has a theatre where shows featuring some top comedians and much more can be enjoyed.

The town centre of Yarmouth has many shops and a permanent and open-air market, as well as a shopping mall. An abundance of eateries are available from seafront fish and chips and seafood to café’s, restaurants and wine bars.

Great Yarmouth Stadium hosts greyhound racing and stock-car racing and Great Yarmouth Racecourse has a three-storey grandstand, restaurants and bars and is popular with trainers from Newmarket.
