Acle is a small market town on the River Bure, located halfway between Norwich and Great Yarmouth. In this article we have put together some helpful information for those who intend on visiting Acle during their next boating holiday with us.

Mooring whilst Visiting Acle
Mooring in the town is relaxed, and widely available at Acle Bridge on a long stretch of the river bank. From the bridge it is just a one mile walk into the town centre along a pleasant roadside path swarming with insect life in the summer. If you need a pit stop then there is Acle Bridge Coffee Shop and General Store on one side of the river and a pub, The Bridge Inn, on the opposite side. Moorings at Mill House Farm, just upstream of Acle dyke, have also recently re-opened, with footpath access to Acle town and to Acle Bridge.
Leisure whilst Visiting Acle
A good place for walking, the town is one of the gateways to the North Burlingham woodland walks. The walking routes offer some accessible paths for disabled people – through woods, orchards and open fields, including a sundial trail. More details can be found here.
Eating Out whilst Visiting Acle
Handily placed by moorings is the Bridge Inn; a popular choice with a varied menu – be sure to check out the steak and ale pie! The pub is well-regarded in customer reviews and features a good children’s play area.
Also popular in the area is Embrujo, a Spanish restaurant located on the site of the former Hermitage pub. Embrujo offers large portions of traditional Spanish food and has excellent reviews, definitely worth a try!
The King’s Head in the centre of the town is another good option, specialising in steaks and fish, with traditional Sunday lunch also available.
Alternatively, choose from a variety of takeaways and local shops where you can stock up on supplies if you prefer eating back on the boat.
