Norfolk Broads Boating Holidays – What’s on Offer for the Active Thrill-seeker?
Increasingly we are looking for active, adventure breaks be it with your partner, family or group of friends. A boating holiday on the Norfolk Broads provides adventure in itself as well as access to many activities and new things to try. Anyone can drive a boat (well, after a trial run anyway), and this in itself is a unique experience. The feeling of being in control, manoeuvring and mooring your boat and ultimately you are the captain of your own ship!
Fishing is something that many people enjoy on the broads. You get access to unique species and there are some tranquil secluded spots for those of you who enjoy the peace of fishing. Please ensure you have the correct licence and that you adhere to season dates – the closed season being from 14th March to 16th June inclusive.
Cycling is becoming increasingly popular in the UK and the Broads has some great cycle routes. You can hire bikes for children, with child seats and some places even hire out tandems.
Canoeing is another way to explore the area and let you get close to some great wildlife and is suitable for all the family. If you visit the Broads Canoe Hire Association website you can find out where to hire canoes from. You can hire a sailing or rowing dinghy for a small extra charge which gives you even more freedom and like canoeing brings you extremely close to the water and all the wonders it houses. You can even have sailing lessons and if you really fancy something different windsurfing is available at the Whitlingham Outdoor Education Centre in Norwich.
Walks around the Broads are plentiful and the Broads has over 190 miles of footpaths and circular walks from many villages. Three long distance footpaths; Weaver’s Way, Wherryman’s Way and Angles Way, run through the Broads. Walking is of course perfect if you choose to bring your dog on holiday with you.
