A Mothers Day Gift with a Difference
If you are looking at something different for Mothers Day then why not try a day boat on the Norfolk Broads? Most people like to spend this special day together as a family and like to make the day a memorable one. With a day boat you can choose the duration of your trip and the route you would like to take.
The Norfolk Broads is a unique landscape with beautiful scenery and wildlife. There are also some great restaurants and pubs which you can stop at for some lunch, or you may choose to take a picnic and enjoy this on board or at the water’s edge. Day boats are also easy to drive (tuition is given) so you can have fun being the captain of your own boat.
We have day boats for hire from Wroxham and Stalham so you can choose your starting point depending on where you would like to visit. We have boats seating from 2 to 11 people and you can hire them by the hour or for a full day. With boats seating up to 11 you may choose to invite grandparents too so mums of all generations can share this special day. Why not make this Mothers Day one to remember?
If you choose to start from Wroxham you can reach Ranworth Broad in about 1.5 hours.
Facilities at Ranworth include public toilets, a café, The Maltsters pub, a shop and a Broads Information Centre. You can follow the boardwalk off the road to the nature trail, on which there is a conservation centre. The centre has an observation area upstairs with binoculars to look over the inner broad, which is reserved for conservation. Ranworth Church is a short walk out of the village – by climbing the tower you will have great views over the area on a clear day. Another popular journey which takes a similar amount of time is to Coltishall which has a village green, pubs and shops.
If you choose to begin your journey from Stalham you can reach Barton Broad in about an hour. This is the second largest of the Broads, where there is some fantastic wildlife to be seen such as terns, otters and kingfishers. Like Wroxham, Ludham is another popular destination where the St Benets Abbey ruins can be seen and there is a pub and tea room there too – perfect for a Mothers Day afternoon!
Whichever route you choose there really is nothing quite like taking a leisurely cruise along the Broads. You may find you enjoy your day so much that you find yourself looking at our holiday cruisers, some of which you can hire for a little as two nights. If you really want time to explore the whole Broads area you may choose to come for a full week or even longer.
