A Mother's Day Gift with a Difference

If you are looking at something different for Mother’s Day then why not try a day boat on the Norfolk Broads? Most people like to spend this special day together as a family and like to make the day a memorable one. With a day boat you can choose the duration of your trip and the route you would like to take.

The Norfolk Broads is a unique landscape with beautiful scenery and wildlife. There are also some great restaurants and pubs which you can stop at for some lunch, or you may choose to take a picnic and enjoy this on board or at the water’s edge. Day boats are also easy to drive (tuition is given) so you can have fun being the captain of your own boat.

We have day boats for hire from Stalham. We have boats seating from 2 to 8 people and you can hire them by the 2-hour, half or full day. With boats seating up to 8 you may choose to invite grandparents too so mums of all generations can share this special day. Why not make this Mother’s Day one to remember?

South Walsham Broad is a popular destination for a day boat trip, reached from the River Bure via Fleet Dyke its a 2.5 hr trip each way. The broad offers peaceful open water and moorings. Visitors can walk to the nearby village to enjoy food and drink at The Ship Inn, or explore Fairhaven Woodland and Water Garden, which has woodland walks and a tea room. It’s an ideal place to pause, enjoy the scenery, and experience one of the most tranquil spots on the Northern Broads.

Ludham is another popular destination where the St Benets Abbey ruins can be seen and there is a pub and tea room there too – perfect for a Mothers Day afternoon!

Whichever route you choose there really is nothing quite like taking a leisurely cruise along the Broads. You may find you enjoy your day so much that you find yourself looking at our holiday cruisers, some of which you can hire for a little as two nights. If you really want time to explore the whole Broads area you may choose to come for a full week or even longer.
