New Species Discovered in the Broads National Park!

Last week, there was a new species discovered in How Hill! The rare beetle was discovered in the Broads last week, showing the fruits of conservationist’s efforts in the area to help wildlife flourish.

The Black Longhorn Beetle (known scientifically as Stictoleptura Scutellata) was found in the gardens of the beautiful How Hill nature reserve.

Spotted in the secret garden on a dead beech tree trunk, the rare beetle is usually found in the canopy of big trees, and is occasionally seen on flowers.

This is the first time a colony of the beetle has been reported in the area. One was photographed in some fens at Sutton last July. In June this year, another was photographed feeding on some meadowsweet blossom, again at How Hill where the colony has been confirmed.
