Richardson's Boating Holidays

Enjoy a Day Boat Trip on the Norfolk Broads

If you are stuck for ideas of what to do in the school holidays then why not try a day boat trip on the Norfolk Broads? Children love spending time in the great outdoors and a river trip can be a completely new and exciting experience.  Even if it is not a first time trip there is so much to explore on the Norfolk Broads that each excursion can seem like a first.

View from Richardson's moonfleet marine stalham. When hiring a day boat at Richardson’s Moonfleet Marine in Stalham or from our Fineway Marina in Wroxham life jackets are provided and fitted and the boats really are easy to drive. Before you leave you will be shown how to drive the boat. Just in case the great British weather brings rain the boats have canopies that can be put up to shelter you from the elements! The day boats can seat up to 6 people and in the 2014 high season the cost of hire for an electric day boat for one hour is just £20. The day boats can be hired from 1-8 hours.

How long you hire the day boat for will obviously determine how far you can travel. If you are taking the boat for just an hour from our Stalham base Moonfleet Marine you can reach Barton Broad which is the second largest of the Norfolk Broads and a nature reserve.  A full day could get you as far as Horning or Potter Heigham. Horning has a lovely green and a variety of shops, pubs and eateries. Potter Heigham has a pub, shops and a fish and chip shop.

The Broads are a wildlife paradise with otters, kingfishers, butterflies, marsh harriers, swans, owls, ducks, geese and much more. There is more information on this in our Kids Guide to the Broads.

Once you have tried the Norfolk Broads you may find yourself as many others do, just waiting to come back. We also have boats to hire on the Norfolk Broads for weeks or short breaks which start from 2 night taster trips. These boats have all the facilities you need with toilets, showers, sleeping quarters and fully-equipped galley areas. Taking a boat out for a longer period of time increases all the great things you can see and do. If you decide to take a longer break you may find our First Timers section helpful.
