Norfolk Broads Boating for 50 years

Richardson’s Group is celebrating 50 years in Norfolk Broads Boating Holidays.  Mr R.J Richardson hired out the first pleasure cruiser from the Richardson’s boatyard in Stalham back in 1958.  He is still involved in the running of the business but has handed the reins over to his sons Paul and Clive.  They are launching the Richardson’s Brand and capitalising on the secure platform their father has built to take the business forward increasing turnover through acquisitions in East Anglia and organic growth within their existing businesses.

Richardson’s own the largest fleet of cruisers on the Norfolk Broads, one of the main tourist attractions for Norfolk and one that has given this area national and international recognition.

Richardson’s has boatyards based at Stalham and Acle and has just short of 300 boats. Richardson’s is heavily committed to investing in the manufacture of new cruisers and is in the process of a 24 month project to build and hire new boats for the fleet resulting in four new boats for the 2008 season; Sunray and Suncharm for Stalham and Sparkling Horizon 1 & 2 for Horizon Craft Acle.  This adds to the eight boats previously built.  They are also totally refitting the ex Maid Veronica, a Bounty 44’, from our Thames fleet into a 10 berth cruiser renamed Supreme and re engineering several more boats with Nanni engines. 

The Boating team consists over 75 highly skilled workers with Boat Builders, Engineers, Electricians, Painters, Gas men, Cleaners and Office staff.  The range of boats owned by Richardson’s is vast covering 2-12 berth boats all with different facilities.  As well as looking after the fleet of boats the team carries out private work which includes painting, antifouling, cleaning, engineering and boat building.

Richardson’s Group also has holiday villages on the Norfolk and Sussex Coast and pubs, restaurants and leisure centres in Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex.
